Writing

I am a long-time member of the Society for Children’s Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and I lead the Denver South Connect and Critique Group for the Rocky Mountain Chapter of SCBWI. In addition to my children’s writing projects, I write for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the Rocky Mountain Chapter of Canine Companions for Independence, and the Denver Rose Society.

Recent publications in Muse magazine, a Cricket Media science magazine for 9-14 year-olds:

  • “A Perfect Match” (about a therapy dog’s jobs) May/June 2018 (Theme: IMG_1758A Little Help)
  • “Animals on My Mind” February 2018 (Theme: Pets on the Mind)
  • “A Random Walk: The Fun Side of Unpredictability” May/June 2016

While Muse does not have links to its articles, most public libraries and schools carry the magazine. You can also get back issues here.

I am so blessed to have an incredible writing group, the Story Spinners. We have been together since about 2001, meeting each month to critique and share our lives. Our group has its own blog “In the Writer’s Web,” focusing on the art and craft of writing. You can follow our writing journey here.
